Botanical Research Greenhouses
One viable solution to prevail over the environmental challenges of fires, droughts, extreme weather, and pests is incorporating a newer agricultural model of efficient indoor farming solutions using Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA). These engineered indoor facilities can produce agricultural products in a stable, eco-friendly environment and are an excellent solution for farmers to stabilize crops and produce higher yields while reducing risks and minimizing carbon emissions.
ZGEO Energy, in partnership with Good Shepherd Ranch, is developing and building a state-of-the-art CEA facility in western Colorado. This facility will serve as a new hydroponic agricultural prototype that uses 100% clean energy. We will be utilizing geothermal and solar renewable energy resources to achieve a zero-carbon footprint to operate this one-hectare (107,000 sq ft) controlled environment agricultural facility.
Geothermal direct-use water applications shall be applied in developing year-round greenhouses for growing produce, botanical plants and agroforestry saplings. With our indoor farming systems, we will demonstrate how producing year-round commodities increases the production yield 17-fold per square foot compared to seasonal traditional farming while using 95% less water.
Specific medicinal plants also demonstrate preferred potencies when grown at higher altitudes. Plant research and development opportunities with the proposed Environmental Science & Health Research Center will be pursued.
